For 2013 from Pete Talaback
I have made a number of mods to Brian's sidecar for this year as well as some to Rabbies and a lot to Spin's I hope to get my sidecar running again as well so I have high hopes for our sidecars this year I have redone the motor and done some chassis mods to Spins single so that should be back this year Since our Benelli was the Big Fish in the small pond last year I guess we will have to get the Benelli in shape to defend our title. Also look for a mystery P1 bike from Mach1.

My brother and I were fortunate to grow up at race tracks, attending my first Loudon National in 1972 at the old Bryar track when I was 8. My brother and I went with my dad to watch our family friend, Ray Bressette roadrace his Yamaha TD250. I was awestruck by how cool real GP bikes were, clad in sleek aerodynamic fairings and brightly painted. Then, that same year, I saw the sidecars. Totally out-of-this-world to me, even then. They were fascinating to watch as driver and passenger worked the rig in unison through the corners. I would imagine myself onboard as I watched them race, picking my favorite team and pretending I was the monkey as I watched the rig racing on the track.

  • Rabbie's father called it quits after a crash in 2005 at Mid-Ohio, So Christina said she’d like to try the monkey spot. We attended a track day at New Hampshire Speedway and took the rig out on the circuit at the lunch break. She loved it and was the monkey for our 2006 season! She got up to speed fast and by mid season (Mid Ohio) we got on the box, finishing third. Christina has remained my monkey since 2006. In 2007 and 2008, she was working in London and I had two other passengers, Will Harding and Marty Yanneralla. Will Harding would be my passenger to win the 2008 AHRMA National Championship, and Christina would return from London and passenger the rig to a 2009 AHRMA National Championship with Rabbie.

Spinny became interested in racing after going a NH local race track named Briar with a fellow Vintage enthusiast Sam stoney in 1989 . Spinny first raced in 1991 with LRRS. Sam was racing a Ducati 350 and Andrew Fairbank and spin were helping out. His enthusiasm for the sport let him to join the join the US Marshalls to get on the track and be up close. Jonathan's attention to detail and safety quickly gained notoriety in the racing circuit. This led to taking Penguin School on a Yamaha SRX 600 loaned by, you guessed it... Sam Stoney. After meeting with Todd Henning, Jonathan and Todd decided to build a Honda 450 race bike. Raced it with surprising success in Superlight class with LRRS and USCRA, that is until the purchase of a EX 500. Spinney achieved his expert license and discovered the vicious cost spiral of trying to run at the front on a modified EX. Then USCRA and vintage only as he left LRRS behind for classic side of the sport...

. When my Dad returned to racing at Loudon with USCRA, we were also working on an Austin Healy bug eyed sprite to race at Lime Rock. The project never really came together, and I was still drawn to the USCRA. The people that had been in my Dad’s clubs such as the annual Matchless Jam Pot Rally and others were also putting bikes on the track. So it was like seeing family just with different geography. Then it happened. While I was watching my Dad’s solo race wrap up, this amazing noise and low riding machine came flying out of turn two, bearing down into three. It was Tommy and Una on a sidecar. I was locked and totally captivated and in my mind now, I see it so clearly, in slow motion, the delicate balanced dance with a beast.

" I recruited Zack Courts to ride my Ducati." Zack was very fast on the bike and helped Pete develop the brakes and suspension to an even higher level. "Although Zack only rode for me for a couple years he won a lot of races beating the likes of Dave Roper and other top level riders. Then Rabbie approached Me an asked me to build a formula CB bike. so i decided to build the bike for Rabbie. when Rabbie the bike and did so quite successfully. but when racing with AHRMA Rabbie had to race 350 sportsman with it. That class allows open engine mods and the limited power of the formula CB motor meant 3rds or 4ths at the very best.
