Giannini Racing in the USCRA

Giannini Racing is a true testament to inventing the wheel. Testing the waters in the 1969, the world of vintage road racing had no idea what it was in for. The world of vintage racing didn't take long to see the talent that Giannini brought to the table as it only took a couple of years for Frank to join the AMOL BMW racing team to assist Oscar liebmanns road race team only to become a championship team throughout the 70's and 80's
Franks builds have captured the interest of the most experienced riders to the young new and fresh blood to the racing circuit.
Giannini continues to fascinate to this day with his latest build, The CR77, Giannini introduced the machine in 2012. this bike caught the eye of most every rider out there. We had a change to talk with Frank about the transformation of the CB77 Motor to the CR77 Race bike. in the spring of 2013 Frank will launch not one but three of these CR77 builds. Tim Tillman may have the honor of piloting this bike coming up in the 2013 season. We at the USCRA welcome the chance to see this bike come to life in NH. Below are come images of the 2012 build and a glimpse of the 2013 builds in the making....

Vintage racing has a different feel to it. the camaraderie and team work has a different vibe here in the USCRA. this is proven time and time again. from that racer that with a busted exhaust only minutes from his grid receives the help from there competitor. to a kinship this reaches beyond the front straight. these photographs capture these moments for the members to keep for a life time...

Over the years, that one amazing photo will surface from the bottom of the tool box. Photographs like Frank Smith and Bob Coy fresh off the track, or the Marhan wedding. posing for these shots we treasure today. these are the moments we all relive with a photograph or video. so the USCRA would like to share this History with the rest of the USCRA Family.

If you have photographs or videos you would like to share of the USCRA, please Send them to us. We would love to see them all vintage, Classic or New.

"Ferruccio (Frank) Giannini began his road racing career in 1969 as a privateer riding Ducati, AJS and Bultaco motorcycles. In 1973 he joined AMOL Precision's factory BMW racing team as Oscar Liebmann's assistant preparing Rennsport 500cc BMW road racers. The team grew in notoriety and was asked to campaign factory Hondas and Bultacos from Cemoto East. Giannini became team leader, head mechanic, and rider. The AMOL Precision Racing team won many AMA, AAMRR and Canadian Championships. With the legendary rider Kurt Liebmann, Ferruccio Giannini and Fred Simone this team was one of the top teams in racing through the early 80's.
Ferruccio Giannini is now the head of Giannini Racing, a vintage team of riders that compete in the US and Canada. Giannini Racing has captured 15 WERA, 4 Canadian, 3 AMA, and 2 FIM championships and over 125 victories." Read More at GianniniRacing.com

After being a spectator for most of my life, I was bit by the racing bug in early 2007. I attended a USCRA school at then New Hampshire International Speedway and was hooked. My racing has taken my to tracks like Daytona International Speedway, Mosport International Speedway, and Barber Motorsports Park. In 2009, I won my first race, which was also a internationally recognized race so I will always be the 2009 Lightweight Supervintage FIM Champion. Consistency and a good mechanic led to the 2011 Lightweight Supervintage Championship of which is my second proudest accomplishment next to being able to follow in the my fathers footsteps and run the number 75.
Speaking of my father, he has a history with racing that could take days to write all down. For years, he sponsored racers, raced himself and more recently became my ultimate support system at the track. He has won multiple championships with different clubs, placed second n Daytona years ago and is a person that truly enjoys being at the track. Since his race ending accident in 2005, he has still found his home at the track by helping out with my race program and volunteering at the USCRA events as a referee. He also serves on the rules committee. Not to be forgotten is my Mom, who also plays a pivotal role in all of this. As the rock of the family, Mom makes sure the camper is stocked before we go to the track, volunteers at many of the events we attend, and never lets me go out on the track without a hug or a kiss. My parents have been together for almost 50 years and I don’ t know what I would do without them at the track!
