Q & A's
From Mike Marion
Question:
Can I get a ruling on bike eligibility? Or perhaps even opinions.
Period IV, F3 allows unlimited displacement singles.
The P4 poster also explicitly shows the KTM 600 Enduro as eligible.
The 600 was first available in 1987 but continued more or less unchanged,
other then displacement increases (to 625cc) through 2002 when it received a new head design.
The KTM 640 (as it was known in the late 90's came in several flavors, "Enduro", SXC, and Duke.
The Duke was the street version with lowered suspension, smaller diameter rims and small fairing.
So, the question is, excluding the motard version (the SMC) which appeared in the 2000's,
would the 640 and it's variants, especially the Duke, be eligible?
The Duke appeared in 1996 or so and survived until, I believe, the year 2000.
I see 2002 as a sort of natural cut-off because the new head design departs
significantly from the original 1987 version.
Answer:
currently the rulebook says:
"Machines originally manufactured for on-off road and/or dirt use must be fitted in race trim (
knobby tires, motocross handlebars, extended-travel forks, high-clearance fenders, etc. are prohibited).
No motards." (sec. 5.8, pg. 30) As far as specific model years and eligibility it reads"
"The following are examples and exceptions of machines permitted in Period IV.
If no date is listed for machines, then only those built up to and including model year 1989 are eligible."
(sec. 5.8.1-5.8.3, pg.31) The KTM 600 is listed with no model year,
so currently the cut-off for that machine is 1989.
If you're not spanking the rest of the field I personally don't see it being an issue,
but it's not up to me alone. If you want,
I can ask the rest of the rules folks if an exception can be made under 'like or similar design'.

Question:
Do we still have the five year rule on helmets? Mine has a tag of 02/09, does that make it good for one more year?
Answer: Yes. 5 years from stamped date of manufacturer. Goes for all certifications- Snell 2010, “British Blue Label” standard BSI 6658 Type A, or European ECE22-04 & ECE22-05 P standard. As always, plain DOT helmets are not permitted. But I think everyone knew that.

Question:
I have a CB160 I would like to race with you; however it's not stock.
As I have raced it in other race organizations, why can't I race the FCB160 Class
Answer: You can race your Modified CB160 with us.
The 200GP class is for you as it holds the same rules as other race outfits.
The rules for the FCB160 class have been designed for the racer to race inexpensively, keeping the motor,
carburetors and other major components
(see the Rulebook section 5.5.3) stock.
It allows you to race the riders and not the money.
If you have a stock CB160 and choose to bump, then again the 200GP class is for you.

Question: I would
like to put together a sidecar but I have no idea where to start. Is there
someone I can talk to to get an idea what what I need to do?
Question: Do the
flags mean the same here as other race clubs? Are they the same as the car
races?
Answer: This is a very good question.
We put together this Flags page so there is no mistaking the flags or what that represent.
We hope this helps you with your questions.
